Draw into the pause.

We invite you to share your immigration story to the US — or your family’s journey — by writing or drawing your experiences on a paper bookmark for our community art project. Help us capture the transitions and memories saved along the way. Use pen, pencil, crayon, or more!

Celebrate roots, journeys, and new beginnings together.

"Immigrating is a pause between chapters of life. You're going from one place to another. Bookmarks represent pauses. A place keeper. Your life is on hold while you're making that transition, before you do the other things in life you want to do. My father and my mother immigrated to the U.S. Often when you immigrate you don't know the language, and things happen really slowly. You're in a different world. That time is like the space between chapters. Your life is interrupted. It's a time to reflect. Is this chapter of your life a transition chapter? Or does it represent something more permanent? With this project, you're writing into the pause."
